Fine line drawing and attention to minute detail have always characterized my art work. Though the subject matter varies, my etchings remain extremely subjective. The etchings take the observer where neither a tree nor a landscape is what it appears to be, but rather a place where hidden images, both real and imagined, merge.
The prints can be loosely divided into three categories: fantasy, erotic and nature.
The fantasy prints contain numerous winged angels and fairies. These beings, who evince a playfulness, are winged protectors of the real and unreal creatures who inhabit the dreamlike landscape.
The erotic work is often playful in nature as well. The eroticism is rarely obvious, but rather, it is blended into the fabric of the work, which is frequently the study of mythological or Victorian themes.
The nature and animal studies are, after all, the root of my work, expressing all the perfection and beauty one could possibly be privileged to enjoy in the world.
Each work is signed and numbered; print numbers vary. All etchings are matted. Stated price includes free shipping. To purchase any of these beautiful works, contact Sheryl Steiger Young at [email protected]

Gone By
8 3/4" w x 9" h

I purchased locally grown sunflowers with the intention of drawing them. Too soon they had "gone by." My cocker spaniel, resting her head on the table, makes this one of my favorite prints. The dog's face, so alive, is a powerful yet subtle contrast
to the dead sunflowers.

Old Apple Tree
6 7/8" w x 9 1/4" h
$ 200
I passed this ancient apple tree on Mann Road for several summers before drawing it. I marveled at how this hollowed, shriveled shell of a tree stayed alive year after year. While in the midst of drawing its fruit and its sinuous lumps and bumps, the tree was uncere-moniously cut down. This print survives as a testament to its tenacity.

Valentine

In my collection of vintage greeting cards is a sweet Valentine. Maintaining the heart shape in the copper plate, which I laboriously cut out with a saw, I added erotic elements, taking it far away from its saccharine, 19th century origins.
